The product

Petlibro builds smart pet-care hardware led by the Granary automatic feeder and Dockstream water fountain: scheduled portions, anti-jam dispensing, sealed freshness, and optional 1080p video with two-way audio so owners can watch and call their pets remotely. The pitch is simple - app-controlled feeding and watering at a mass-market price, sold in 40+ countries.

How they did it

Founder Wu Yu left cross-border seller Zebao in 2019 to attack pet-care pain points. The first feeder drew complaints about jamming and mouldy food, so the team interviewed pet stores, tore down competitors and iterated the dispensing chute through ten versions before adding food-grade seals and a desiccant bay. The fixed Granary launched on Amazon in 2020 and took the category's top spot. Sequoia China backed a ~$10M Series A, Shenzhen Capital Group led a $14M Series B, and expansion into Chewy, Best Buy, Target and TikTok pushed cumulative sales past $50M and 3 million units.

Why it worked

  • Iterated ten versions to fix defects rivals ignored
  • An Amazon-first launch captured a proven high-intent category
  • Expanded aggressively into Chewy, Best Buy, Target and DTC
  • Value pricing plus AI features fit mass-market owners
