The product

The Laundry Chair is a solid hardwood chair with cotton corduroy upholstery and a removable cover. Its armrest forms a rotating rail mounted on a ball-bearing lazy-Susan mechanism, letting users hang about ten garments, then spin them behind the chair out of sight. Hanging clothes in open air reduces wrinkles, moisture and odors, so items can be worn again before washing. The chair ships flat-packed for home assembly and measures roughly 93 by 92 by 93 cm at about 20 kg. It retails for about $1,100 through Yetch Studio.

How they did it

Inventor and YouTube creator Simone Giertz first built the Laundry Chair as a prototype for a 2024 video, then spent more than a year turning it into a real product under her company Yetch Studio. She launched it on Kickstarter in 2025 to satisfy demand from viewers who wanted to buy one. The campaign raised $1,264,868 from 1,281 backers, far exceeding its $50,000 goal, with super-early-bird tiers at $879 selling out immediately. The chair retails for about $1,100, and Giertz said production would run through 2026 with delivery expected around November. It ships flat-packed in a compact box and is positioned as premium furniture rather than a novelty item. The launch was covered widely because it formalised a habit almost every household instantly recognises.

Why it worked

  • Named a universal, relatable habit almost everyone recognised
  • Simple non-tech design made manufacturing and storytelling easy
  • Creator's existing YouTube audience supplied instant pre-launch demand
  • Premium hardwood build justified a $1,100 retail price point
